ACIAC Seminar: Chinese Australia’s First Novel—“The Poison of Polygamy”

This seminar was held on Thursday October 10th 2019 and hosted by the Australia-China Institute for Arts and Culture at Western Sydney University. It consisted of two presentations and a question-and-answer session. The opening presentation was delivered by Prof. Jocelyn Chey AM FAIIA, who had read and reviewed the new publication of The Poison of Polygamy for The Journal of the Oriental Society of Australia (JOSA)—for this review, see https://search.informit.org/doi/10.3316/informit.154113323903024 For further detail on the seminar, see the flyer above. My thanks to Director Prof. Jing Han and others at ACIAC for organising the event, to Prof. Chey for her presentation and high praise with respect to the quality of my translation, and to all attendees. It was wonderful to see so much interest on show not only in the novel, but in Chinese languages and Literary Chinese literature.
